Mobile Wallet FAQ

What is Mobile Wallet?

Mobile Wallet is a secure, digital version of your physical wallet that allows you to store your Lōkahi FCU Debit Card on your smartphone, smartwatch, or other compatible device. Once added, you can use your device to make contactless payments at participating merchants that accept Apple Pay® or Google Wallet™ — no need to swipe or insert your card.

Mobile Wallets use encryption and tokenization to protect your card information, making them safer than carrying physical cards or cash.

Is there a fee to use Mobile Wallet?
Yes! Using Mobile Wallet is free — there are no fees from Lōkahi FCU to add your debit or credit card, or make purchases using Apple Pay® or Google Wallet™. However, third-party charges may apply, such as message and data rates from your wireless carrier. Be sure to check with your mobile provider for details.
Which Lōkahi FCU cards will I be able to use with Mobile Wallet?
All Lōkahi FCU Debit Cards and Credit Cards can be added to Apple Pay®, Google Wallet™, and Click to Pay. Just make sure your card is active and your contact information is up to date with the credit union for verification purposes.
Why am I prompted to call to verify my card?

As an added layer of security, you may be prompted to call Lōkahi FCU to verify your identity before your card can be activated for use in Apple Pay®Google Wallet™, or Click to Pay.

This verification step helps protect your account in case your card information was lost, stolen, or compromised. During the call, you may be asked to confirm personal details — such as the primary member’s Social Security Number — to ensure the request is legitimate.

Tip: Make sure your current phone number is on file with us. For security reasons, verification must be completed using the phone number listed in your Lōkahi FCU account.

Are Mobile Wallets safe?

Yes — Mobile Wallets are designed with security in mind.

When you add your Lōkahi FCU Debit or Credit Card to Apple Pay®, Google Wallet™, or Click to Pay, your actual card details (like your account number, CVV, or name) are never stored on your device or shared with merchants.

Instead, a unique digital token — also known as a Device Account Number — is created and securely stored on your device. This token is used to process transactions, keeping your real card information private and protected.

Additional security features include:

  • Biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint)
  • Transaction-specific dynamic security codes
  • Encrypted communication between your device and the payment terminal
  • Remote device management in case your phone is lost or stolen

Mobile Wallets are often safer than carrying physical cards or cash, offering both convenience and peace of mind.

Can I opt out of a Mobile Wallet at any time?

Yes. You can remove your Lōkahi FCU Debit or Credit Card from Apple Pay®, Google Wallet™, or Click to Pay at any time.

Removing your card is simple:

  • Apple Pay: Open the Wallet app, select your card, tap the More (…) button, then choose Remove This Card.
  • Google Wallet: Open the Google Wallet app, tap your card, then tap Remove.
  • Click to Pay: Sign in at Click to Pay, go to your profile, and remove your saved card.

Once removed, your card will no longer be available for mobile or online payments through that platform.

What happens when my card expires?

When your Lōkahi FCU Debit or Credit Card expires and you receive a new one, you may need to update your Mobile Wallet with the new card details, depending on the platform:

  • Apple Pay: In many cases, your new card information will be updated automatically by your card issuer. However, if it doesn’t update, you can manually remove the old card and add the new one using the Wallet app.
  • Google Wallet: You may need to remove the expired card and add your new card manually. Open the Google Wallet app, remove the old card, and follow the steps to add your new one.
  • Click to Pay: Sign in to your Click to Pay account and update your card information under your profile settings.

For security, you may be asked to verify your identity again when adding a new or replacement card.

What if the device I use with Mobile Wallet is lost or stolen?

If your smartphone, tablet, or smartwatch is lost or stolen, your Mobile Wallet can no longer be used without your device’s passcode, Face ID, or fingerprint. However, as an added precaution:

  1. Contact our Call Center immediately to suspend your Lōkahi FCU card from being used in Mobile Wallet.
  2. You may continue using your physical debit or credit card as usual.
  3. If you prefer, you can also request to cancel your card and receive a new one for added security.

If you recover your device:

  • Contact our Call Center to reinstate your card for Mobile Wallet use.

If your device is not recovered:

  • We recommend canceling your current card and requesting a new one, which you can then add to your new device’s Mobile Wallet.

Mobile Wallets are protected by multiple layers of security, but taking quick action helps ensure your account stays safe.

Just like any other purchase, you can return items bought using Apple Pay®, Google Wallet™, or Click to Pay. Refunds are processed by the merchant, and the funds will be returned to your Lōkahi FCU Debit or Credit Card.

During the return process, the cashier may ask for the last four digits of your Device Account Number — this is different from your physical card number.

How to find your Device Account Number:

  • Apple Pay: Open the Wallet app, tap your card, then tap the “i” or “•••” icon to view the last four digits of your Device Account Number.
  • Google Wallet: Open the Google Wallet app, tap your card, then look under “Details” to find the virtual account number.

Refunds may take a few business days to appear, depending on the merchant and card network.
