Yes! Members may open multiple checking accounts. However, reward checking accounts are limited to one per member. For example, you may have a Standard Checking and a Cash+ Checking, but not a have Rate+, Cash+, or Kūpuna Checking open at the same time.
Can I open both a Rate+ and Cash+ Checking Account?
We’re glad you’re interested in our rewards accounts! Members are limited to one rewards checking account, so you’ll need to choose either Rate+, Cash+, or Kūpuna Checking.
If I change my checking account type, will I need to purchase new checks?
No. Your account number remains the same, so you can continue using your existing checks.
Will I need a new debit card if I change my checking account type?
No. Your current Lōkahi FCU Debit Mastercard will continue to work.
Is there a required minimum balance for Lōkahi FCU checking accounts?
No. All Lōkahi FCU checking accounts have no minimum balance requirements.
I currently have Overdraft Privilege (ODP). Will it carry over if I switch checking products?
Yes! ODP will carry over when you change your checking account type.
Can the joint owner on my reward checking account open their own reward account?
Yes. The one reward checking account limit applies only to primary members. Joint owners may establish their own primary membership and open a reward checking account.
Is there an age requirement for Kūpuna Checking?
Yes. Kūpuna Checking is available exclusively to members aged 62 and older.
I’m 61 and my birthday is in two weeks. Can I open a Kūpuna Checking now?
We’re excited for you to join Kūpuna Checking soon! This account is reserved for members aged 62 and older, so you’ll be eligible to apply once you turn 62. In the meantime, we’d be happy to help you find an account that fits your needs.
If I open more than one checking account, can I receive more than one premium gift?
We appreciate your enthusiasm! To ensure fairness, we limit premium gifts to one per member. If you have questions about available gifts, feel free to reach out.
